I'm a beginner for Filemaker 7 and I have a question about using relationships.

I have data in two different databases about a set of people each identified by an ID code. I want to combine them into one. So I set up the relationship between the databases to correspond the ID codes, and I make new fields in one of the databases and say to auto-fill based on the relationship. But it only auto-fills when I create a new record, and not for existing records. How do I do this for existing records?
