Newbies ewiesner Posted August 29, 2004 Newbies Posted August 29, 2004 I've had to reinstall the application 4 times. The symptons are; after double clicking I get the splash screen and then it quits. This happens twice, on the third try I get the splash screen with a line of garbage that looks like it might be filling in the serial number, it quits and then I get a message that a virus or something else has corrupted FMP, determine the error and reinstall. Then sometimes when I start the application, it works. I can't determine how or why this is happening...help!
falkaholic Posted August 29, 2004 Posted August 29, 2004 What OS are you using? I'm by the symptoms I'd guess Windows (but your info says OSX). My guess is that its not FMP, its just Windows being screwy.
Computer Geek Posted August 30, 2004 Posted August 30, 2004 I don't know if this is the case or not, but I had trouble starting it after I ran a script that exited the application. Click here for details: Details
Newbies ewiesner Posted August 30, 2004 Author Newbies Posted August 30, 2004 Computer geek, I was unable to view your link. I am running OS X 10.3.5, not Windows. I have tried repairing the permissions, I have run Disk Warrior, I cannot seem to find the culprit. In fact I tried to launch a FMP application that I am working on and I could not get FMP to launch at all. No message indicating I had a corrupted copy of Filemaker, only the splash screen and the it would quit. I guess my next option will be to contact Filemaker directly.
Computer Geek Posted August 30, 2004 Posted August 30, 2004 Sorry about the link. The posting was last week, so just look back a few pages in this forum.
Newbies ewiesner Posted September 3, 2004 Author Newbies Posted September 3, 2004 I've determined the issue. It appears to be a Virex 7.X conflict. I removed all Virex code and preferences, deleted the FMP application, reinstalled FMP developer 7 and applied the 7.0.2 update and have not had a problem since.
