is there any way to completely lock out accesss to the status bar?

Ok, how do you 'completely' hide the status bar. I have a script that runs on startup of a module which sets user abort off, error capture on, sets window to maximize, hides status area and switches layout. The script runs and the status area shows up and hides the first time run then is fine. Exit the app and restsart and it shows and hides again. FMPro 5 did not, once hidden it stayed even on app restart. This is just one of many annoying and some serious issues I am encountering on a upgrade to 7.

I agree, this is an annoying change. I would suggest changing your opening script to hide the status area first to reduce the amount of flash.
