"." decimal symbol in Number will not go away

Featured Replies

I've just converted a database from FP6 to FP7

in it, there is a field that prints a number with two decimal places onto a form..

I need to leave out the decimal symbol so that it will print correctly on the form.

In FP6, this worked fine, I just went into Format/Number and deleted the decimal symbol..

when I converted the database to FP7, the "." started showing up.. I went in to Format/Number

and to my surprise, the settings were set correctly.. there was not supposed to be a decimal symbol

printing.. but there it is on the report.

Any ideas on how to get rid of it, without turning it into a text field.

Do mean you have the field formatted with zero as the fixed number of decimal digits?

no.. I have two decimal digits.. but have nothing in the area for the decimal point symbol..

(you know where you can change the decimal point from period to comma, etc. well I deleted it *)

I need the complete number with 2 numbers following the (invisible) decimal point to print into boxes on a form... the boxes are similar to a standardzied test input form.... i.e. there is no space on the form for a decimal point, I need to leave it out.. but, the decimal points are meaningful data as the field is a calculated total of other fields on the form.. so I can't convert it to a text field.

* this worked fine in FP6 but doesn't seem to work when I converted it to FP7

On Windows this puts a box in the field (unknown character) for 5.5 and nothing in 7, also. I would suggest using a calculation of Substitute( numberfield; ".", "" ) instead.
