hi,

I'm wondering if anyone can provide more explaination into what the filemaker installer is complaining about when it pops that informational message about if filemaker is installed on unix file system or what ever when I try to install it onto a new G5 tower? I've tried to find info at Filemaker's knowledge base, with no luck. I've even googl'd it frown.gif

It may not be FileMaker specifically, but could just be a message from the installer engine that they use...I think that I have seen this message before...since you COULD HAVE installed OS X with the Unix NFS file system (though 99% of people do not) the installer might fail.

What is the exact message, and does the installer continue?

Don't worry about it. If you've explicitly reformatted that G5 with a UFS filesystem (which not many people would do) then you can safely ignore the message and proceed. All Macs come pre-formatted with HFS+ as the default file system.

well, I didn't do anythign to the mac but install my software for the client, and made them run the OSX updates (but it takes so long to download those some times ARGH!!!)

I'm assuming (though i didn't check) that since it came straight from Apple, it is formatted Journaling HFS plus like my father's ibook is.

my G4 in the office here with osx is formated just hfs extended cause I upgraded it from os 9.
