October 21, 200421 yr Could someone tell me why when I edit a layout that is hosted by FMServer7, by inserting a .png file to the layout.. that the file is not saved to the layout ? When another user opens the layout, they get a "the file "..." can not be found" message where the image should be. Also, could someone tell me why the date formatting on a related date field in a portal doesn't seem to respond to Format-date commands ? (in a date field in a portal, I'm trying to set the date to leave off the year, and it's just not working.. the year still shows up)
October 21, 200421 yr Author before anyone asks... I inserted the image by choosing Insert-Picture, not by pasting it in.
October 21, 200421 yr 1. Check the file paths for the Insert Picture command. 2. Check that the date is of type date and not number or text.
October 21, 200421 yr Author File paths ? I'm in layout mode and am choosing Insert-Picture onto my layout. What does the path have to do with it ? The layout graphics will remain if I take the file off of the server and add them to the layout that way, but they're NOT in global fields. Shouldn't they be conserved if they're physically added to a layout by someone that has rights to edit the layout ? ---- as for the 2nd tip !! ah.. not a number field, but I was using a time stamp.. and kinda hoping that Filemaker would let me view it as a date and format it as a date. (it was displaying as a date, by the way, without the time, maybe just because the field was small) thanks
October 22, 200421 yr 1. The file path would matter if you're linking, rather than actually inserting...but that's not what you're doing--you're inserting directly. Try it the other way, just for the deuce of it, and see if that works; i.e., checkmark the "Store only as a reference to the file." 2. Solved.
October 23, 200421 yr Author Ag.. thanks :-) I didn't even realize that you *could* store a ref. to the file when adding to a layout.. i thought that was reserved for inserting files into containers..
