I've just installed filemaker pro 6, pro 7 (multi-user licence version with at least 2

seats left), developer 7 and server 7 admin tool on a new laptop (Sony Vaio PCG-K315Z) running Windows XP Home (SP2)

and a load of free software. Pro 6 (which we need for accessing current systems) works fine, as does the server

admin utility. However when i try and run Pro 7 or Developer 7 i get the following error message twice.

FileMaker Pro.exe - Applicatgion Error

The application failed to initalize properly (0xc0000005). Click on OK to terminate the application.

I've tried re-installing but that didn't work. I also looked in the registry, under current user - software -

filemaker, to see if there was something to do with printers (as a previous post suggested), but there's nothing at

all in there but a preferences folder. Is this right? Pro6's registry folder had at least 5 others. After that i

tried removing all printers and all filemaker products but Pro 6, then re-started, installed pro 7, but it still

gives the error. I also tried disabling Norton Internet Security and Live Update but nothing changed.

If anyone has any suggestions please let me know. This is urgent. Thanks

by the way; I had a similar problem and the only way I could solve that was to format the HDD and start form the beginning again!

Please give FileMaker a bell or mail first.

Thanks for your reply. I'll contact FileMaker and Sony. Sony shouldn't have loaded anything volatile enough to stop FM from working.

Thanks again, btw like your flower

are you running server 7 and server pro/developer at the same time on the same computer? If so you may be having a memory meltdown. Also, how much memory does your computer have?. Try running only FMP 7 without FM6 or either server program running and see what happens.
