Layout popup not scrolling on WinXp

Featured Replies

I just noticed on a test PC system that my popup layout select will not scroll beyond the screen height, as I develop on Mac, I never noticed this in the past. Is this a known problem or do I have something set wrong the on the PC. I'm using developer 7.0.3 and WinXP on the problem system.

Hello Rod,

Not seeing that problem here.

Using FileMaker Developer 7.0v3 on WinXP, in a file with 124 layouts, we are able to scroll to access the layouts which are off the bottom of the screen using a down-arrw that appears at the bottom left of the layouts pop-up list. After the list has been scrolled down a few lines, the up arrow at the top left (which is initially dimmed) becomes active and can be used to scroll back up again.

FWIW, I've just checked and both the up and down scrolling functions correctly in all four of FileMaker's 'modes' (layout, find, browse and preview), on two different WinXP machines here.

Sounds like you may have a gremlin on that particular machine. I suggest that first off, you try uninstalling any plug-ins and see if the problem persists. If so, uninstalling and reinstalling FileMaker might be the next thing to try.

Thanks Ray, I'm away from the PC now but will try some things tomorrow, I remember the top arrow is dimmed and in fact the list starts at the first layout, and the bottom arrow is active, but no scroll when I go off the last layout name. I do have some plug in's installed. The PC has a new install on it just for this app, so hopefully its the plug in's.

...but no scroll when I go off the last layout name.

Ah. That may be where the issue lies. In order to scroll the list, you have to actually click on the arrow. One click per line or click and hold for continuous scrolling. wink.gif

Ahh, well I feel a lot better about going back to this tomorrow, .....shows how dependent I am on my Mac version....we usually only place user versions on the PC, and those have all layouts set invisible, will try and spend a bit more time on the PC for development in the future.

Thanks a lot Ray.

I can't reproduce this here. If there are more layouts that fit on the screen, the list displays the usual black triangle at the bottom to let you scroll down.

Wim, Ray, as a 100% Mac person I'm so used to just dragging the cursor off the bottom to get scrolling that's what I was doing with Windows. Guess I need to spend more time on a Windows machine, with FM7 now the amount of layouts has grown a lot, never ran into this in the past, thanks for the responses.....feel pretty stupid.
