TONYMONK Posted March 19, 2005 Posted March 19, 2005 I've just bought fm pro 7 after having installed and tried the free download. I had the same problem occur in both the trial and purchased versions. The program installed OK and I was able to use it initially, but it later refused to load - it hangs on Auto Update. I'm not sure when the problem occurred with the trial version, but with the purchased version it happened after the machine was in hibernation for about an hour (I'm using a P4 Toshiba running XP). The error says that Filemaker has detected a problem and will now close. After that I can't get back into the program. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling many times but no result. Also tried re-establishing the system to pre-Filekaer days but this also failed. The version of XP that I'm running is in Spanish with the version of FM in English, if that makes any diff. I notice that someone had a similar problem and was told to delete the Filemaker Pro 7.0D Prefs in Library/Preferences. I'm a bit of a novice, so where do I find "Library/Preferences"? I did delete the .dll files in Filemaker and re-installed the program but this was unsuccessful. This is driving me nuts - can anyone help before I go over the edge?? Thanks

TONYMONK Posted March 20, 2005 Author Posted March 20, 2005 This seems crazy but I was actually able to get into the program this morning first time, but when I exited to go back in - same problem! To me it appears to be some conflict with Windows XP or perhaps some files that need to be deleted as was the case with the solution to DUUJO's problem per his post of 10 Mar. But what is the awswer?? Any help would be enormously apreciated!!

Ano Nimus Posted March 21, 2005 Posted March 21, 2005 I don't know the answer to your actual problem, but that prefs stuff is only found in the Mac OS, don't bother finding out about that, it does not apply to XP.

TONYMONK Posted March 21, 2005 Author Posted March 21, 2005 Thanks for this clarification. Still no resolution to the problem. Anyone got any ideas.
