Tiger content searches of FM Docs using Spotlight

Mac OS 10.4 (Tiger) will not search FM documents. Does anybody know if a plug-in exists to enable content searches in FM documents using Spotlight?

I hope not. If such a plug-in is made then the data security of our FMP database will be breached.

I'm guessing that Spotlight is the new Sherlock thingy...

FMI added a very crude level of encryption to the data in version 7 files to prevent casual inspection of data by means of file editors etc. This also prevents the "index by content" feature of the operating system from working on FM files.

Mac OS 10.3 was able to search FM content. Simply index the folder containg the FM Documents. After using the find comand in the finder contents of FM Documents could be searched. This can be a very useful tool.

Search for credit card numbers inside a password-protected FMP file through the Finder... Useful perhaps, but a security breach none the less.

FM7 files?

Interesting, but then the encryption level is primitive, and since FMI is owned by Apple, it wouldn't be a big deal to get past the encryption. I suspect they decided against continuing that feature in Tiger for the reasons that Vaughan gives.

FM7 files?

No.
