Newbies Nickuss Posted January 23, 2006 Newbies Posted January 23, 2006 (edited) Hi, Last year I purchased 2 copies of Filemaker 7 from eBay. They only cam in paper CD slips with their serial numbers printed on a label. I put the CD's into plastic cases and wrote down both of the numbers onto the case. I think I might have used the paper slips for something else but I no longer have them. Problem is, I needed to reinstall Filemaker onto 2 machines to network (thats why I have 2 copies). Turns out I left a digit out of the first block of 4 characters of the serial number. I tried the other serial number which was complete and it worked, but it conflicted with the installation on the other computer. The serial number I wrote down was: 3296-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx As you can see, the "3296" bit needs to have 5 characters instead of four. Does anybody know what might be missing OR have an alternative serial I can use. It is a legitimate copy, I have a receipt and an original printed CD. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Nickuss. Edited January 23, 2006 by Guest Removal of actual serial number from posting.
Lee Smith Posted January 23, 2006 Posted January 23, 2006 Did you registered them with FileMaker, do they have you in their records? Can't they help you figure this out? BTW, I wouldn't be too sure that it is a legitimate copy. A client of mine bought a copy like that off of EBAY last year, registered it with FileMaker, and discovered it was pirated copy when they went to upgrade it to version 8. It seems that FileMaker is not set up to catch Pirated copies when they are registered. Lee
Newbies Nickuss Posted January 23, 2006 Author Newbies Posted January 23, 2006 Thanks Lee for the quick reply. No I didnt register it with FileMaker. It looks like a legit copy, at least doesn't look like a backyard pirate job at all if it is pirate. Anyway of getting an alternative serial number?
Ender Posted January 23, 2006 Posted January 23, 2006 (edited) Contact FileMaker directly about serial number issues. Certainly serial numbers should not be posted here. Edited January 23, 2006 by Guest
stanley Posted January 23, 2006 Posted January 23, 2006 I have removed the serial number from that posting for security purposes. -Stanley
Newbies Nickuss Posted January 24, 2006 Author Newbies Posted January 24, 2006 Sorry about posting the number. Thought it didnt matter cause it was damaged anyway. Thanks for the help though.
