Newbies Shoregeek Posted March 22, 2006 Newbies Posted March 22, 2006 Hi, I am very new to Filemaker, on either platform, but not new to technology. I just got off the phone with a client who is currently using a Filemaker Pro 7 on OSX DB but is leaving to a new job that is Windows-XP based. How can she take her DB to the Windows-XP? Also, she will need Filemaker at the new job - should I recommend the latest or keep with the version she is coming from? Thanks! -Eric aka Shoregeek
Lee Smith Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 Hi Eric, and welcome to the Forum. FileMaker files are cross platform, meaning that your files can be read on either machine. Have your client let you know if there is a size problem with the fonts, as Windows will show the fonts slightly larger and it may effect your layout look. Other than that, as long as they worked on the Mac using v7, there shouldn't be any problems on windows. HTH Lee
Newbies Shoregeek Posted March 23, 2006 Author Newbies Posted March 23, 2006 Hi Lee, Thank you! This isn't my handy work, I am still learning how to use Filemaker v8 - but that is another post. -Eric aka Shoregeek
