FileMaker 9, PHP & SSL

I'm using Filemaker 9 server. When I installed it I set up a worker machine to hold the php web files which are setup into an iis web engine in windows server 2003. I have a seperate machine for the filemaker database server.

A developer has created some php files for me to be able to view data in a website from my database. All works well on the internal network.

I now want to publish this server on the web so that external users can access this info. In IIS server I have enabled a self certified security certificate.

Now when I try to access the website internally or externally I get the log on screen that we have created when I enter the user logon credentials it appears to fail when connecting to the internal fm server. Turn off the SSL cert of the web server and it works again.

In the PHP file we have some that act as connectors to the fm server, they have an ip address of 127.0.0.1 which is the lookup ip address. I have tried changing these to the server ip but still fails.

My web server has multi homed network cards. One pointing to the internal lan and the other external.

Can any one tell me what I'm doing wrong?

Thanks for any suggestions.
