David Nelson Posted September 23, 2012 Posted September 23, 2012 In version 11, file options allows a script to run, such as a startup script. It is gone. I found, I think, that it has been replaced by OnFirstWindowOpen. I thought I would then go to the layout which I specify in file options and that layout would hold a script trigger (with all its other ones) but it is not there. I read the help on it and it does not say where or how I attach it on file open. All it says is: OnFirstWindowOpen Triggers a script to run each time you open a window of a database file when no other windows for the file are open. When the script runs After the first window of a file is opened. Modes in which the trigger can be used OnFirstWindowOpen activates before FileMaker Pro enters a mode. Result None. Originated in FileMaker Pro 12.0 Notes Although this is typically the first time you open a file, you can also trigger a script this way when you open a window for a hidden file previously opened via a script or relationship. If I don't attach the trigger to a layout, how do I use it? The part in blue has me totally perplexed.
Rick Whitelaw Posted September 23, 2012 Posted September 23, 2012 On First Window Open is the same as On File Open or whatever it used to be called.
Rick Whitelaw Posted September 23, 2012 Posted September 23, 2012 On First Window Open script is set in File Options. 1
David Nelson Posted September 23, 2012 Author Posted September 23, 2012 And again I feel like a dummy. I looked there first of course and then looked everywhere else. I did not notice that new tab. <sigh> Thank you Rick.
Rick Whitelaw Posted September 24, 2012 Posted September 24, 2012 I had to look it up myself. I just upgraded to 12.
