Newbies mvandier Posted February 18, 2003 Newbies Posted February 18, 2003 Very often i have the problem that even when my layouts look fine in "preview"mode, the printout is lousy. Words half printed, ( in lenght or in height) lines changes, even pagination changes. I use the newest drivers, no help. I also notice that fmpro does not take into account priner parameters that are set in windows. I seems that fmpro runs it's own printer driver and does not use the windews printer parametrage. All info about this is welcome.
Newbies mvandier Posted February 19, 2003 Author Newbies Posted February 19, 2003 Hi Vaughan, I use: Operation system Windows XP Pro Filemaker Pro 5.5
Vaughan Posted February 20, 2003 Posted February 20, 2003 FMP 5.5v...? What patch level? It's important. Visit www.filemaker.com and see if there is a patch updater for your version. Install it and see if it makes a difference. If not then it's probably a printer driver problem. Other people may have suggestions.
Newbies mvandier Posted February 21, 2003 Author Newbies Posted February 21, 2003 Filemaker Pro 5.5 v2 But I have these problems since I use fmpro, that is Version 2. In fact, reading the different forums on the net I conclude that many people face these problems. Basically it seems that fmpro windows version does not really integrate the windows platform when it comes to printing. I'm just curious how other user's cope with the problem.
Newbies genok7gy Posted February 24, 2003 Newbies Posted February 24, 2003 Same problem with 5.5 and 6. Preview looks fine, but sending it to the printer or to Adobe Distiller for Acrobat, it ignores the header and prints through it. Posted problem here, but no solutions. Everything is upgraded (new printer and drivers, new computer etc.) No change.
Newbies NealS Posted February 28, 2003 Newbies Posted February 28, 2003 What printer are you using? I have found (for example) that for HP laser printers using PCL5 drivers instead of PCL6 solves many problems. Funny thing, the HP people knew this, FM support did not.
