Hay all,

Having a feature problem in osX/9 here. Its really neat to drag a pic from safari to a container field in FM pro (my dad loves it). The problem is that the picture gets larger this way. Same with copy and paste.

Is there a trick or app that can help me out on osX?

save the pic & import it as reference only. Any copied (or dragged9 picture is converted to PICT format, if you have checked "use compatible graphics", a WMF representation is also stored. Any jpg-compression is lost on the way. This is normal & expected behaviour, but it slows down searching your database a lot.

I always keep graphics in a separate, related database and refer to them by picture ID. This way, the main database is not slowed down by massive picture data when doing text search etc. Since container fields are not indexable anyway, the display of pictures is as fast as keeping them in the main db. Alos, keeping pictures in a separate db greatly improves the chance of recovering the (non-picture) data in case anything goes wrong with the database.

I totally agree but isn't there an app that keeps the picture in JPEG with drag 'n drop?
