How do you change the alignment of the part labels from a horizontal format to a vertical format. I'm referring to the <header> <body> <footer> etc.

That is a interesting question. Unfortunately it can't be done. We've pretty much gotten used to the horizontal layering; though it can be limiting.

There are columns in the Layout Setup. But these are for printing records in the Body part, not really what you're wanting.

Sometimes there are ways to use globals and/or self-relationships in order to produce "columns" which otherwise would impossible.

But vertical parts is flat out impossible.

Do you just want the header and footer to be on the sides of the page? Or, do you want summary parts to run vertically too? If just header and footer, then there is a way to have them run down the side of the page. It uses the technique that I used in this sample file

I have a completely different interpretation of this question!

Larry - I'm assuming you want to toggle the button-like labels of each part while in layout mode. When horizontal, they can obscure fields; when vertical, sub-summary parts are not as readable. Look for the icons to the left of your horizontal scrollbar. When you're in layout mode, there's an extra one between the status area toggle & the mode selector, and it toggles the label parts between horizontal & vertical. I don't think this feature can be accessed from the regular menus.

Hope that's what you were after laugh.gif

cheers,
