June 13, 200322 yr Hey - Now that I have a dedicated server to FMP (Not FM Server) and have actual user levels... my question is this: To launch/access the databases now, users must open FMP on their desktop, click "Hosts" to get connected to the FM Server, then select one of the non-hidden databases available to them. There's GOT to be an easier way to get into them from the desktop! Shortcuts/aliases aren't working. For regular users it's annoying, for the minimum access users, it will be way too confusing for them!! (We haven't told them it's on their machine yet!) PLEASE TELL ME THERE'S A BETTER WAY.... THANKS!!!
June 13, 200322 yr I had just the same question. Is there a solution involving a file on each users hard drive that is scripted to automatically connect in the appropriate manner?
June 13, 200322 yr Yes, there is a solution. MDLarson made a nice example I think: http://www.fmforums.com/threads/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=files&Number=55844&page=3&view=collapsed&sb=5&o=&fpart=1 Wonder if the link works... Otherwise go to 'Sample Files' and search for "Client Opener File" Regards, Ernst.
