Newbies pgec Posted March 3, 2004 Newbies Posted March 3, 2004 Hey Everyone, I'm a little new to this all so please bear with me if my questions seem a little simple. I'm trying to create a database that will cover many different sets of data. For example, there is a group a, b, and c and they all have different values. The thing is, I want a user to be able to log into one database and choose whether they want to modify either a, b, or c, instead of having to go to a separate database for each. Does anyone have a suggestion for how to do this? I was thinking that I could create the separate databases and then just tie them in together through a portal or does filemaker have a feature that I don't know about that would make this all very simple? Sorry if this is in the wrong place, please just point me to wherever this belongs and thanks in advance for any help you guys can provide!
Garry Claridge Posted March 3, 2004 Posted March 3, 2004 I use an independent database with one dummy record. It has a Layout with a button for each of the other databases. The buttons simply open each of the other databases. Good Luck. Garry p.s. The lack of the capability for a single application/db window in FM is a weakness, in my opinion.
Newbies pgec Posted March 5, 2004 Author Newbies Posted March 5, 2004 thanks a lot for the advice! that makes a lot of sense
