I need to import and print graphics such as logo's with transparency. Older versions of fm used eps on the mac and I know wmf work on the PC but most of my clients can't create wmf from the files they get from their clients? any solutions.....

Version: v5.x

Platform: Windows XP

This works in FM6 on Mac/PC using Photoshop on Mac:

Set the transparent part of the image to pure white 255,255,255. In Photoshop: flatten the image, this makes transparent pixels white. Rotate the image 90 degress counter-clockwise. Save the image as a TIFF.

In FileMaker, use Insert>Picture... to place the graphic. It will appear with a white BG, don't worry. Rotate the graphic 90 degrees clockwise. Set the Fill pattern to transparent. It should now have transparency.

Voila!

Well that works even on the pc crazy.gif unless there is actually white in the logo are there any other tricks or tips?

Off shade the white by a tiny bit, like 255,255,254. That'll allow transparency without any visual artifacts.

In Photoshop you can use the Select Color range and click on some white. Set the fuzziness to 0. If there isn't a large enough area of white to click on, just make one, even if you have to enlarge the canvas temporarily.
