May 15, 200421 yr As I understand it, you can set a relationship's default sort, and you can sort portals based on that relationship independently. All of which is nice. Has anyone discovered which is the more efficient, if your two sorts would be the same? Better to sort at the relationship level or leave that blank and sort at the portal level? Thanks, oh wise ones.
May 31, 200421 yr Well, Charlie, this is just a guess ... I would think it is better NOT to sort at the relationship level and to, instead, sort only when you specifically need it. This seems more resource-friendly to me, for some reason.
June 2, 200421 yr Author I think you may be right. I can't prove it (yet?), but that seems to make sense. It would be great if FM would put out a "tips" file that talks about these kinds of efficiency issues. Some things we learn through hard experience, but others sort of sit in a fog of uncertainty.
June 2, 200421 yr I understand your quest all too well ... I also seek the Holy Grale of FM efficieny, and pick apart every forum post looking for tid bits. Some things are difficult to test, as in this case. Only those with many years of experience and/or a deep understanding of the FM engine would know these answers, I'm afraid.
