Is there a way to find and replace without having to do this manually for each record and without losing all the other data in the relevant field?

How do you print out multiple records so that fields into which data has not been entered do not print? (i.e. no blank lines on printout)

Hi hilmarton,

You can use the Substitution Function to "automatically remove and replace a character, word, or a group of words", however, it does require a separate calculation field, or a Script.

Give us and example of what you are trying to do, if this doesn't make sense to you.

You can Omit them from the group of records to be printed.

Enter find mode, Put an = sign in the field of choice, and check the Omit box, to the left below the Rolodex, hit the Continue button.

Let us know if you need additional information.

Howdy! If the records have SOME info you still want to print, you also might be able to use the SLIDING/PRINTING option under the FORMAT menu on the layout to slide fields up and then use the REDUCE ENCLOSING PART option. I usally select all the fields, slide them all up, and then use the reduce part option (but it depends on your layout; I do not think you can do this with merge-style fields).
