Hi there,

I am relatively new to FMP, and am just beginning to work with scripts and relationships. I currently have a database with over 900 records, and I now need to assign serial numbers to my records. Is there a way to automatically add serial numbers to existing records? Would I use a script, and if so, what would it look like? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Create the ID field.

Click into the field and click on Records, Replace Field Contents. There is an option in there to choose replace fields with serial number starting at "" in increments of ""

    It doesn't matter what record you're on. The serial numbers will be generated starting at the first record of the found set, going to the last.
