I did a reinstall of FM Server 5.5 on a NT server and when I attempt to start the FileMaker service, I get a message "The FileMaker Server service returned service specific error 51"

So now FM will not run for me and I am stuck. Any help greatly appreciated.

I believe it is the port error. You have to open the port that the FM is using to broadcast to the network.

I don't believe it is a port problem. When FM was initially installed on this server, no ports were opened and it has operated flawlessy for a number of years. The error is occuring when I attempt to start the FileMaker service.

Has anyone resolved this issues for FM Server 5.5 and the error code 51?

This is a 15 year old thread and a 19-year old software product - I don't think you'll get more traction.
