justcosmic Posted August 3, 2004 Posted August 3, 2004 Hi all, I am just wondering if there is a way to "record" scripts as you might do with macros for example...or is there a plugin that can do this. I am actually trying to create scripts to copy data from current record fields, & go to a related file, create new record and paste into those fileds, but my FMP abilities are'nt quite upto the task....so it occured to me ...wouldn't it be great if you could just record it like a macro... ....any help gratefully recieved...feel free to mail to [email protected] ....thanks
RossP Posted August 4, 2004 Posted August 4, 2004 Hey, Justcosmic. I've never heard of any "macro recorder" for FM Pro. And with good reason. With a bit of tweaking you can write scripts which will do just about anything. Even what you
justcosmic Posted August 6, 2004 Author Posted August 6, 2004 Thanks for your reply.... ...good point about posting replies, not sending via email...I am a bit new to all this, so just learing the protocol... ...about the macro/sript thing...I know that the script maker is fairly easy to use...but think how much quicker & and more intuitive it would be to have a "recorder option"...particularly if it could be set to "always on".....so you could retrospectively "capture" certain actions....(perhaps this could tie in with multi undo!!) Having said that, I am fairly new to FMpro and so things which are obvious to others are still new to me. I find that the manual really only scratches the surface.....particularly in terms of fully understanding calculation fields for example.....I wonder if there are any resources that fill this gap, without costing an arm & a leg...?? ok...too many questions all at once i know....but as you said...these are the type of questions that others may be asking... thanks in advance to any light shedding on the above.... Justin
