Hello all,

I am interviewing for a job that includes administration of a FileMaker database. I have never used FileMaker before, but I am very familiar with PostgreSQL and MySQL, and I have dabbled with Oracle a bit. Could anyone point out any basic guides to FileMaker for me? Books would be fine too. Or, if someone would like to give a basic overview of how it works, that would be great smile.gif Mostly, I am curious as to how the graphics frontend works and anything that may be necessary to know for someone coming from a command-line based DB background. Thanks!

If you have a subscription to www.vtc.com (Which is 100 dollars a year i think) then they have a great tutorial in Quicktime about FileMaker 7. If you don't, I would suggest going to your local library and looking for FileMaker video's on CD. It doesn't really take too long to learn the basics of FileMaker to where you can use it for dataentry and even create some good databases, just a little more time to be intermediate.
