Featured Replies

Hey, this is what im trying to do....

Lets say I have 35 records, and I want to see a big list of the records on one page. I want to have about 5 fields from each record displayed on a line with a button to click to visit that record. whats this called and how do i do it? or if theres other threads on how to do this please direct me, for I have no clue what its called, tried to search but dunno what for hehe

Hi Adam,

You need to update your profile to reflect the platform, operating system, and version of FileMaker you are using. The link is just below your name on the left "profile".

Since you posted this in the General Question v7 and not in the "FileMaker Functions & Features >> Layouts", I'll assume you are using v7 wink.gif

I don't think that this has changed in v7, So, I'll explain how it was done in earlier versions. Start by going into Layout Mode, and then go to the Menu >> Layout >> New (Cmd N on a Mac). One of the choices in the list provided is for one called "Columnar List/Report", Select it, and then Hit the "Next" button. You will then be presented with several screens (read and check the boxes that you want to apply) and then continue by hitting the "Next" button until "Finish".

And I'll add ... once the List layout has been created, you need to Insert > Button to place a button in the body (row). It will display a list of script-steps. Right under Navigation, select Go To Layout and enter the form layout name you wish to view (for just that record). Usually I create a script because there are other elements I need within the scripts, but this will give you the idea. smile.gif
