Sanjay Posted October 13, 2004 Posted October 13, 2004 Hi Everyone, I have been working on Filemaker Pro 5 version and now we would like to move ahead to Filemaker Pro 7. Could you please share your experience in the conversion process. I have already downloaded the pdf's available(migration, converting, server upgrade, security etc). I started the conversion process slowly and I found that it would be much better to rewrite the code instead of converting the old files to use the one file and may tables feature in filemaker pro 7. I have 10 fp5 file and each has minimum 300 fields. Can you suggest the most fastest way to convert the files to tables in filemaker pro. I can prepare the layout again but how to transfer the field definitions etc. Creating 300 fields would be definitely time consuming. Thanks to take out your time. Waiting for reply --Sanjay
Ano Nimus Posted October 13, 2004 Posted October 13, 2004 Take a look at the tools offered by www.newmillennium.com, they will at least relieve you of the painstaking work of retyping all the field names and definitions.
transpower Posted October 13, 2004 Posted October 13, 2004 Use FM Migrator. Be sure that your filenames do not have spaces! Be sure to set up ODBC correctly!
