I've got this problem, with a complicated database I sometimes need long table names or field names. Most lists for these are resizable, but filemaker doesn't seem to allow me to resize other views (the define fields pane is a great example). Am I stuck with these skimpy views? It sucks to have an effective table/field length limit.

With version 7 you should be able to expand all the columns under the Tables or Fields tabs in the Define Database window. There are situations you can not expand a window, such as creating a new report where the Specify Fields window is not expandable.

The define fields pane is a pain. It shrinks back to default every time you close it. But you can definitively resize the columns for the duration.
