April 27, 200520 yr I'm not sure if this is the right forum to post this question to, but here goes. I am presented with an opportunity to become a salaried FMP Developer of an organization but they require taking and passing the FMP Certification test. I did not even know that this test existed before this requirement was presented to me, and whereas I think I would do well on it I hvae no idea as to what the content of the test is and if there are specific things I can study for to be prepared for it. Does anyone know if there is a study guide available or can anyone provide insight as to the depth of the test and potential issues to be prepared for? Any help and/or insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Steve Freeman
April 27, 200520 yr Here's a link to a company that provides training for FMP 7. There are others out there: http://www.supportgroup.com/ and here is a link to where you can sign up for the test to get your FMP7 Developer certification: http://securereg3.prometric.com/
April 27, 200520 yr Hi Steve, I remembered that this came up the other day, so I just did a search of the Forums using your keywords and found a couple of threads on this subject: Search [color:"blue"] All Forums using these [color:"blue"] Keywords [color:"red"] +Certification +FileMaker +Test just as I typed them, with the plus sign, and [color:"blue"] remove the [color:"red"] "1" in the Weeks HTH Lee
April 28, 200520 yr Author Hey Lee, I typed in the searc exactly as you wrote, I actually copied and pasted, but the return had no worthwhile results. I'll try again though. thanks for the tip. Steve
April 28, 200520 yr Hi Steve, That's funny. Are you sure you had selected "All Forums"? I just did the search again, and here are the hits from my Search. HERE and AND HERE and also AND HERE HTH Lee
April 28, 200520 yr Hi - For the FM7 Certification it is based around there training course. You can purchase the book on the FileMaker website at http://store.filemaker.com/r1.html#protraining for $99 If you do want a trainer to help you, you have a Professional Trainer in your area at FMPtraining http://www.fmptraining.com. This by the way is the same trainer who we are giving away 4 days of training with in June. All we want in return is a review of the class. Check out the competition details at http://www.fmpug.com/fmptraining_offer.html
April 28, 200520 yr That book that Andy mentioned is well worth the price. It starts out with the very basics and gets pretty deep after only a few chapters. Even if you just read this book, you would be better off.
April 28, 200520 yr Author HI Lee, I did the earch again and got the results you had mentioned. The mistake I had made was I had the box checked to look in the subject line AND the body. This retruned literlly hundreds of hits. Once I made that change I was fine. Sorry to be a pain. I should have seen that the first time around. Thanks for the tip there was some good info there. A sample test or some sample questions would be the biggest help but apparently those are not available. I am curious how I would do without sudying, but I don't really want to throw $150 away just to find out my knowledge depth is entirely in the wrong areas! Thanks again, Steve
