I'm trying to install FM Pro7 trial on a potential client/customer's DELL Laptop running WinXP Pro and have uninstalled and reinstalled 3 times and I still get the error:

"FileMaker cannot share or be a client of a file because the networking stack could not be initialized"

Anyone else ever see this problem? I've had no trouble using the trial ware on a dozen other potential customer's machines.

The only time I've seen this is when FMP 7 had been installed on another machine on a network. Or if FMP 7 was previously installed on the machine your working on! Other than it shouldn't happen.

No, that shouldn't be the case. I'm installing it off network and on a machine that's never had FM on it.

Any other ideas out there?

Try reinstalling TCP/IP, worked for me.

I have:

- Internet protocol (TCP/IP),

- Microsoft TCP/IP version 6.

Which I try to reinstal?

Must I reinstal Client for Microsoft Network first?

TIA

Reinstalling wasn’t help me.

I solved problem with restoring system on date before updating FM 8 Advanced, again restore back to today and installing FM 8 Advanced over existing version. It’ maybe sounds stupid but works in my case. :
