Newbies tedirving Posted June 15, 2005 Newbies Posted June 15, 2005 OUr school just upgraded from filemaker 5.5 to 7.0 Pro, but when I open a 5.5 file in 7.0 it asks to convert it. After converting it, it now has a name and password. In 5.5, there is just a password screen. Now 7pro won't accept any of the working passwords from 5.5. How can i get this to work ?
RalphL Posted June 15, 2005 Posted June 15, 2005 Passwords in FMP 7 are case sensitive. Try the master password with Admin.
Inky Phil Posted June 15, 2005 Posted June 15, 2005 If all else fails delete all passwords in 5 before converting - that was the only ( if not correct) way I could get past that pesky screen!
DykstrL Posted June 15, 2005 Posted June 15, 2005 When you convert previous versions to v7 that have passwords, the conversion process makes the account names the same as the passwords - so try entering the password in both fields - it should work. The down side of this is that it exposes the passwords. You will have to redo the Accounts & Privileges. The conversion process should also create an "Admin" account with no password with full Privileges.
Inky Phil Posted June 16, 2005 Posted June 16, 2005 Thanks for the tip Dykstryl but following others advice I have tried all those options - and still failed!!. I gave up in the end and went back to the most unprofessional method of removing everything in advance. Phil
