Is it possible to run Server 5 and Pro 5.5 on same box without causing problems? This is a dedicated FM server machine, (Win2k Server). Our database admin wants to run Pro on the server to modify files without having to move them to a separate machine. I can't seem to find a definitive answer on this.

I've heard it's bad practice, but have also heard it circumvented by using this:

For most practical uses, it's not recommended, like Soren says. But, it should work, As I've used Server 5.5 & Developer 6 on the same machine before.

It gets to be a hassle when you have to 'kick off' users of a certain file to make changes to it. Define fields is one example, and I beleive editing scripts is another. You can get into layout mode while the files are being hosted.

I'm not aware of any corruption-type of issues with this.

Well thinking of it ...if you open the files in servers folder from an ordinary version on the same machine, will it cause that the service it runs under is terminated, what I haven't tried is to have them working on two NIC's!!!
