SteveB Posted August 31, 2005 Posted August 31, 2005 I downloaded v8 and ordered v8 Advanced. I have a lot of cases where I use a Popup Menu (in Win XP)through a script which sometimes does nothing more than refresh the portal, but sometimes performs some really useful behavior (like changing a layout, etc.) This use to work fine in v6 (I skipped v7 for lots of resaons), but blows up and FM dies and I find myself back at my desktop. Has anyone had problems doing this in v7 or v8? Methinks they have a real bad bug. Steve
-Queue- Posted August 31, 2005 Posted August 31, 2005 I haven't had any problems as long as access to the field is disabled in Browse Mode. I did get 8 to crash when access was enabled, but I haven't tested 7 yet.
SteveB Posted August 31, 2005 Author Posted August 31, 2005 This is v8 and I have access disabled but it blows up. Steve
-Queue- Posted August 31, 2005 Posted August 31, 2005 You're right! It's broken in 8, but works fine in 7. And it doesn't matter how long you set the Pause for; it still resumes after the given amount of time instead of waiting for a selection.
-Queue- Posted August 31, 2005 Posted August 31, 2005 (edited) It seems that it is due to the Go to Layout script step. If you use a Show Custom Dialog step instead, it does work as expected. Very interesting. Nevermind, I lied. I had 7 open when I thought 8 was open. It doesn't seem to work at all. I guess you could report it as a bug since it has worked on Windows since at least version 5. Edited August 31, 2005 by Guest
SteveB Posted August 31, 2005 Author Posted August 31, 2005 Where it was crashing was in a portal, but I tried a non-portal version doing the same thing and I found that it seems the relationship didn't convert properly into v8. I'm still trying to understand what the little bugger really converted and what to do with the relationship graph, but I have at least one case that seems to work. Steve
SteveB Posted August 31, 2005 Author Posted August 31, 2005 I take it back...I can run 2-3 times and it works; then boom. Bad bug Steve
SteveB Posted September 4, 2005 Author Posted September 4, 2005 Okay, the problem also happens in Advanced. I typically set the Pause to '0:0:0' which worked fine in v6. I found through playing around with the debugger that it doesn't happen when debugging, indicating a timing problem. If I set the delay to be 2 seconds or greater, it works if I don't jump on the script again before the time in script has elasped. I sent FM an email, but they never responded. Does anyone know of a phone number to report bugs? It seems the only options I could find require a credit card. They may have improved the software, but their service still stinks! Steve
-Queue- Posted September 6, 2005 Posted September 6, 2005 I guess, in the meantime, it would be best to add a Go button next to the popup and use it instead. It's a shame that they somehow broke that feature though. Did you try spamming them about the problem? :
