September 6, 200520 yr Newbies How do I insert a photo into the Body field in FM 8 using the Email Campaign Management template that came with it? I don't want the photo as an attachment. I want it in the body of the email on the right side with the size being 2" square. All of the text needs to be wraped so that it is on the left side of photo.
September 6, 200520 yr You mean that on a Windows machine, you can insert a picture in the text, and it doesn't show it as an enclosure? When I receive one like that it Always shows as an enclosure in the Email Program, Lee
September 6, 200520 yr If you want more control, you could do your layout in FileMaker, then use the new Save/Send Records As PDF. Then you can use the Send Mail step, choose the filepath of the PDF file, and send without dialog. You could alternatively check the "Create email with attachment" in the Save as PDF dialog. But that just creates a single email; no further automation possible. In most email clients the PDF will appear as the body of the email. But not in all. Of course, images of any kind are not guaranteed to show to all people. Mine are turned off for example, except for testing. But that's 'cause I'm a curmudgeon geek, who sees no reason to view unsolicited advertising, which most email graphics are. Otherwise, if you want more control, use an email plug-in, such as SMTP-it. It allows setting of explicit inline graphics in HTML. (P.S. SlimJim gave us the technique to create dynamic filepaths for the Save As, Export or Import steps in FileMaker 8. Set the path into a script Variable, then use that in the filepath dialog. It will evaluate to whatever text was put into it, including using a calculation with the new Get (DesktopPath) function.) September 6, 200520 yr Anyway you look at it, their will be a name for the photo, PDF, etc. listed in the Attachments in the headers. Lee
September 6, 200520 yr Embedding a picture is usually done with an HTML mail and the image as an attachment. You could write the HTML and attach the image in FM, but I'm not sure if you could set the mime-type correctly.
September 6, 200520 yr I think you have to use a plugin to send HTML mail. (SMTPit or mail.it) I speak for many people in saying that I don't like HTML mail
