stuj1026 Posted September 6, 2005 Posted September 6, 2005 Need the maxium size of information I can put in 1 field. I Know in version six it was 32K but I can't seem to find that information for fmp7 Tahnks Stu
stanley Posted September 6, 2005 Posted September 6, 2005 Stu: From the original FMP7 press release: Databases can store up to 8 terabytes of information—4,000 times the old limit! Fields can store up to 4 gigabytes. Text fields can now store up to 2 gigabytes -Stanley
Vaughan Posted September 7, 2005 Posted September 7, 2005 It depends on the field type. The text field limit in FMP 6 and earlier was 64 kB. This is 2 GB in FMP 7 and later. Number fields are limitd to 256 characters/digits in FMP 6 and earlier. I think this also applies to FMP 7 and later.
comment Posted September 7, 2005 Posted September 7, 2005 Text or Number fields can have up to 1 billion characters per field per repetition (limited by available memory). A Container field can have "multiple streams of binary data totaling no more then 4 gigabytes". http://www.filemaker.com/ti/109047.html
