Unless I am completely misunderstanding the reason for the "File Maintenance" utilities on FM 8 Advanced, I would have thought that these would have been much better placed in the standard version of the program.

At present, to compact a file in the standard version one needs to resort to an ungainly scripted process.

With the propensity of FM files to increase in size due to the way it stores all amendments it surely makes sense to have a simple menu selection in the Standard cersion as we have in Advanced.

Or is that just too simple?

Similarly, why do these features not exist in FM7 Server or FM8 Server? To use them now, you have to shut down the server, open the files locally, then restart the server.
