FMP5.5v2 updater won't complete on MacOS X

Featured Replies

I've got a freshly setup G4 Powerbook 17" with 10.4.3 and FMP5.5 on. Downloaded the v2 updater for FMP5.5 and:

-on my main account (admin account) it will crash upon starting. It just bounces a couple of times in the Dock, then quits and asks if I want to report to Apple (I did).

-on a different (admin) account which I setup specifically for this, it actually runs, but a little before completing the update, the updater reports that:

"An error prevented the update from completing. 11002:2,-5000 Access denied error [OK]" and then

"You do not have enough access privileges for this installation. [OK]"

All other apps are closed prior to starting the Updater. I'm bummed. Any tips? Thanks, people.

I would "fix Privileges" in the Disk Utility first and then run the updater again.

Good Luck

Permissions were OK. Repaired them again, just in case. Problem persists.

Thanks Keith. Other ideas?

You need to set up the root account through NetInfo and login as root to install the 5.5v2 update.

I have 10.3 that does not need it done as root and there are some that do. I am unable to find a way around it, but logging as the root works.
