Technical Approach to Database Development

Featured Replies

I am looking for a brief, general description of the technical approach taken in database design, management and analysis I would be eternally grateful. I am responding to a request for proposals to provide communications services to a federal agency and need to respond to this section and we don't have anything formal developed in this regard.

Thanks

No, but thanks. I need to be able to say "this is the process we go through to develop and manage a database." Step 1, blah blah ; Step 2, blah blah, etc. Its really just a bunch of crap, but I've got to respond to what they are asking for.

Ah, developer 101.

Look in the FileMaker Resource Topic Area for some of the books that are recommended. I have one that is called; Special Edition, Using FileMaker Pro 5, by Rich Coulombre, and Jonathan Price that really discusses just that. I haven't looked at the most recent version, but I'm sure that it would have this info too.

I can usually find the one I have on Ebay or Amazon
