Newbies havenohope Posted May 14, 2006 Newbies Posted May 14, 2006 (edited) One of my main files will no longer open. At first the file wouldn't open, then it would quit the application if I tried to open that file. Now my filemaker 5.5 crashes if I try to open at all. I've tried rebuilding the file, recovering the file, compressing the file. For the final crowing disaster FileMaker gave me the advice to clean my old file and preferences. Great except I bought my last 2 versions with updates and it cannot find the file, won't download or accept my previous install code. Filemaker will only supply documentation on the latest and previous versions.... All this started after I downloaded the 30 day trial of fmp 8 Can anyone help? Edited May 14, 2006 by Guest
gdurniak Posted May 14, 2006 Posted May 14, 2006 A few comments: 1. try opening the file on a different machine 2. try opening the file on a windows machine 3. OS X updates often "break" things. Make sure you turn off any plugins 4. Re-installing FileMaker itself might help, if you can find all your disks 5. trashing the FileMaker preferences files often helps
