Hi all,

Sure it's very easy but can someone tell me how I setup my database so it can be accessed over a LAN? I've played around with the scripts but alas no luck.

Thanks in advance

FilemakerPro Menu>Sharing>Filemaker Network>Network sharing "on"

Check to make sure you have an extended privilege set called "[fmapp]" and that it is assigned to one or more accounts. Check your Sharing settings to make sure network access is turned on.

Thanks for that. So there's no need to set up a script to enable network sharing?

Scripts have nothing to do with network sharing, unless you count the script steps that manage accounts.

Hi guys,

I am having the same problem. I would like to share a filemaker pro 7 database between 3 users. I have tried the suggestions above. I guess I need to access the database through the "Open Remote" dialog box. All I get is the name of the "Host" computer with its IP address. The IP address shows up in the Network File Path, if I type in the name of the database after the IP address Filemaker does a bit of spin cursor (beachball) and complains " '2006Filemaker.fp7' could not be opened. Either the host is not avaliable, or the file is not available on the host".

Any ideas?

Fiachra.

P.S. The db (database) is placed in the Public folder.
