Get(ActiveLayoutObjectName)

Featured Replies

I'm having a problem here.

When I use this script I get nothing, even when I put it on a button. So my button looks like this:

Show Custom Dialog[Get(ActiveLayoutObjectName)]

Filemaker says it should return the name of my button, anyone know whats up with this?

Zero, I was investigating this also, was going to post a test file but got distracted. It turns out that this object name stuff is not really as dynamic as we might have thought. Make sure your button is in the tab order of your layout. With the layout in view hit the tab button and it should go to the first object in your tab order continue hitting tab until you see the button in question gain focus, then click the button and you will get the results you wanted, but as you see just clicking on the button does not give it focus. So the object names are very useful in many circumtances but getting focus on an object is kinda weird right now. Maybe it will change in next version. I will try to post my test file, in a couple of days, but pretty busy this weekend so I cannot promise.
