Mordaunt Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 (edited) Something strange has begun happening on my Windows XP based laptop when using any FM product (tried 7, 8, 8.5, advanced, etc...) For unknown reasons, whenever I use Filemaker, the screen seems to do an odd refresh/redraw thing where it will hang up for just a second and the data will redraw about an inch to the left of where it actually is on the screen. It will catch itself after half a second and come back but it is driving me crazy while working on databases! This occurs in every situation I have yet tried...shared files, self hosted files, templates, layout mode, preview mode, define database...But only on this computer...I also work on a Mac and have 5 computers in my office all sharing data with no similar issues. This ONLY occurs with FM software. Everything else on my computer (and I use it for quite a LOT) works perfectly...even big memory suckers like Dreamweaver and Photoshop. I've played around with my screen settings, but my monitor only comes with one possible refresh mode (60 hertz) I tried installing new drivers for the monitor but to no avail. Anyone have ANY suggestions? Starting to get very annoyed. It's pretty embarrassing to be showing a sample database to a prospective client and they see this odd behavior on the "expert's" computer... Edited February 27, 2007 by Guest
Newbies aphotog Posted March 4, 2007 Newbies Posted March 4, 2007 We have been seeing precisely the same behavior on all of our Windows XP systems, running 8.5. Any ideas on a resolution for this?
Stephen S Posted March 20, 2007 Posted March 20, 2007 I also have the same problem. Also for Quicken. I think it may be related to a wireless Microsoft mouse. Quicken had a workaround - lowering the acceleration rate on video card (causes other problems). I just ended the ipoint.exe process in Task Manager which so far solves it but disables some of the mouse features.
Mordaunt Posted March 25, 2007 Author Posted March 25, 2007 You are exactly right. After MUCH searching turns out it was my wireless Microsoft mouse (which also caused my screen saver to malfunction and refused to allow my system to sleep) Ending the process solves the flashing immediately.
