PHP API upgrade issues

Featured Replies

Wondering if anyone has made the jump from FM8 Serv ADV (using the php api beta) to 9. I got the Oct 7th bomb at a client who was already prepping to upgrade to server 9.

My concerns are - I've build quite a bit using the example php files with the beta AND I've hacked the iwp_auth.html pages pretty well to manage a hot-link, login flow through. I can of course back that stuff up and drop it back in but...what will break!!

Anybody been there?

Thx

We've had a number of clients quickly migrate to 9 from 8 because of the API beta expiration. AFAIK, in all cases they were able to just move their code right over.

Be sure to check out:

http://sixfriedrice.com/wp/migrating-from-the-beta-filemaker-php-api/

which has info on one particular gotcha with the new API, though it's probably a slim chance it applies to your particular solution.

Regarding the iwp_auth.html customizations, I'd recommend re-doing them with the iwp_auth.html file from 9. However, it's 99% the same as the one from 8, so your changes should probably work just the same.

As always, test everything before deploying.
