Newbies thepope Posted October 19, 2000 Newbies Posted October 19, 2000 im trying to share a database over 9 or ten computers im using the trial version now, to see if we can use the way we want, but when i try to open the file in a second computer an error said the file is been used the host cant be found on the network or the file is single user but i set the sharing for mutli user, what im doing wrong?
WBlanchard Posted October 19, 2000 Posted October 19, 2000 I'm assuming from the description, you're not using FileMaker Server. If that said, open the database on the host computer, and select sharing from the File menu. Click on Multi user and ok. Make sure all our computers are using the same protocol (ie AppleTalk, TCP/IP, or IPX) Now when you try to access the file from another computer, in the open window, click on Host. The Host computer with all the database file available should show up in the window. HTH
PinnWal Posted October 19, 2000 Posted October 19, 2000 Your Holiness- Also be aware that with the Trial Version you can only share the files via TCP/IP. The other protocols will not allow you to share your files with the Trial Version. Later :-)
Newbies thepope Posted October 21, 2000 Author Newbies Posted October 21, 2000 that was my problem, the protocol, thank you very much, i really appreciate your help,
