November 20, 200025 yr Newbies 1. Date format controlled by Windows even when a custom date formatted field is created.(i.e., try setting to yyyy/mm/dd) 2. Importing data from one Filemaker Pro database into another causes font size to be inherited into a field that was formatted with a different font size. November 27, 200025 yr Dates can be *entered* into a field in format specified by the operating system -- cannot change that otherwise FMP won't know whether 02/04/2000 is the 2nd of April or the 4th February. Dates are *displayed* on a field-by-field basis (that is, each separate occurrance of a field can be formatted differently) and controlled by the Format/date command. So people will type in 1/1/2000 and you can mae it display as 2000/1/1 if you want. Usually when importing between databases, only the data is transferred and all formattting is lost. Like dates, text fields can be individually formatted to suit the task, so fields can look different depending on the layout etc.
