How many records is too many?

Featured Replies

I have a file (1 table, 1 field [number, indexed], 1 layout, no relationships or data sources) with 14,271,957 records. It is a complete list of national "do not call" numbers for the areas that my company makes phone calls to. It is only referanced once for some calling lists that get imported. This has worked well for a few years now but as the company has grown, so has the area that we service (and is likly to continue to grow). The question is, at what point should I begin looking for an alternative way of doing this? As it is the file is huge 519 mb(compacted) 693 mb otherwise, and finds in it are impractical, luckily a simple relationship to it to check if a phone number is there still works well and it does not need to be updated by the end users ever.
