Newbies lordylordy47 Posted December 21, 2008 Newbies Posted December 21, 2008 hello FM Forum! I know this has been posted before but there was no response back in August. I have been running FM9 on a standalone PC in Vista Business and have had continual crashes. I have just upgraded my machine, though downgraded to XP but running 64-bit to address the 8 gb RAM installed. Does anyone know if FM Pro 9 will work with XP 64-bit op sys on a stand-alone pc (not Mac)? The chaps at FileMaker don't seem to think it will, but it seems to have installed, launched and run a couple of queries ok so far. The previous postings seem to be focused on servers not stand-alone pc's (not sure if it is a separate issue). Any help/advice greatly appreciated. Cheers!
Genx Posted December 21, 2008 Posted December 21, 2008 FileMaker is a 32 bit app in Windows, is installed as a 32 bit app and runs as a 32 bit app regardless of how many bits the OS is.
djlane Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 Hi Genx, Does this apply to the FM10 family as well? If so, does that mean there is no point in installing more than 4gb ram on a 64-bit machine running FMS10 ?
