BAZ Posted April 18, 2001 Posted April 18, 2001 Dear All, Firstly, I hope I have chosen the right area to post my topic, if not then I apologize. My problem is I have created new file maker files, and put them on the FM Server, and opened them. Now, I need to change some password privilages; I closed the files using the remote administration, but when I open the file seperately, and come to the File menu the "Define Fields", "Define Value Lists ", "Define Relationships" options are dimmed. Also all the "Acces Privilages" options are dimmed. I can't understand why. Now, if I remove any of those files to another machine (either guest or server), I get access to those options on the menu. What could be wrong...? Note: I have some older files on the server, and when closing them I can use the options normally. Also, I would like to say that the older files are put in a seperate folder than the newer ones as a way of distinction. Thank You. I'd appreciate any help as soon as possible.
BAZ Posted April 19, 2001 Author Posted April 19, 2001 Hi, I beleive that I solved my problem! First of all, I have the FM files on a second disk drive other than the 'C' drive, that is 'L' drive (which also has the FM Server application installed on it); and any drive needs to be shared. Also, sometime back I changed all the users names on the network; so, although I have given each user certain access privilages before changing, I couldn't use those permissions after changing the users' names. Therefore, I had to define the permissions again on the shared drive. Now, this problem happened only with the new files I added after changing the users' names on the network, but did not affect the files created before changing the names; does anyone know the answer to this? Note I'm running FM Server on a Windows NT Server. Thanks anyway!!

I believe the files are Marked Read-Only or the access privledges you have given the folder is giving you Read-Only Access to the file.
