On a PC system it has been observed that FILEMAKER PRO 5 will hang just after loading if the VXD notify.vxd is loaded. This appears in the [386Enh] section of the system.ini file as the line:

device=notify.vxd

This driver appears to be use by the debugging software DBWIN32 (from DBWINV2.ZIP) which generates a windows display for printf statements to stdout.
